If you have a dog and he often starts sneezing, try some home remedies for sneezing dog. You can even make these remedies at your home and save a lot of money as well as time. It is not advisable to treat your dog with drugs, which may cause side effects or develop harmful infections. Home remedies are considered the safest ones as they are natural, safe and do not have any side effects when used properly.

Before using any remedies, make sure you know the cause of his sneezing: Dog sneezing can be caused by allergies or other medical conditions like sore throat, sinus infection, cold air etc. Home remedies for sneezing are generally used in case of dogs who are in acute respiratory distress or are otherwise very ill. Treating a sneezing pet is an important part of treating his illness as his mucous membrane gets affected and no amount of medicines or saline can relieve him from it.

There are certain herbs, which can also be used to alleviate the symptoms of sneezing.

  1. The first remedy is to clean the nasal passage of the dog with an antibacterial nasal spray.
  2. This must be done before administering any medicine to the dog.
  3. If the cause of his sneezing is due to allergies, then dilute the steroid into the water that is used for washing the dog and irrigate him with this water.
  4. If the vet says the sneezing is due to nasal congestion then adding some drops of peppermint oil into the dog’s nasal cavity will help him to breathe easily.
  5. This treatment should be repeated at least once a day for a week or two.

Another home remedy for dog sneezing is to add: a teaspoonful of white vinegar to a cup of warm water and gargle with this mixture. This is a good remedy for keeping the nasal passages of the dog open and reducing the occurrence of sneezing in the long run. The same treatment can be made use of to ease the inflammation of the nasal membrane by smearing a paste of fenugreek leaves and rubbing it gently on the forehead. Another way of treating the sneezing in dogs is to add some apple cider vinegar to the warm water and gargle with it. Another concoction made out of fenugreek, garlic, cumin seeds and salt is also said to give relief to the dog from his condition.

Certain dogs are born with defective genes: that may cause them to suffer from allergic conditions like sneezing. In such cases, the owner has to take utmost care to ensure that the dog does not get affected with the condition. In order to treat the problem of sneezing in dogs, special anti-allergy medication needs to be given to the dog. Home remedies for dogs that reduce the frequency of sneezing may also help the pet stay away from the disease. A frequent bathing with hot water and steamy herbs like neem, basil, sage and thyme can do wonders to keep the respiratory tract of the dog free of moisture and bacteria. This will also prevent the occurrence of a sore throat in case of an unhygienic dog.

There are certain conditions: which are beyond cure but can provide immense comfort to your pet. If a dog is having difficulty in breathing due to some kind of physical deformity or structural abnormality, artificial nostrils may help in improving the breathing process. Such a device is known as ‘bronchial apparatus’. This apparatus includes a bronchial air pump which forces water through the windpipe and thereby opening the nasal passage.

Home remedies for dogs that reduce the incidence of sneezing may cause sneezing in pets to a maximum extent.
